British luxury fashion house Alexander McQueen will return to the official London Fashion Week schedule this September, presenting its spring 2027 collection in the British capital.

The brand, which typically shows in Paris, is scheduled to stage a runway show on 20 September. The presentation will mark Creative Director Seán McGirr’s first Alexander McQueen show in London and will feature both womenswear and menswear collections.

Laura Weir, CEO of the British Fashion Council (BFC), welcomed the move, saying McQueen’s return was “a statement of confidence in British creativity at its most fearless and distinctive”.

Founded in London in 1992 by Lee Alexander McQueen, the label held its early runway shows in the city before relocating to Paris, where many of the industry’s leading luxury houses present their collections.

Irish designer Seán McGirr was appointed Creative Director of Alexander McQueen in October 2023, succeeding Burton, who departed after 27 years with the house. Prior to joining McQueen, McGirr served as Head of Ready-to-Wear at JW Anderson.

McGirr said: “London has always been at the heart of McQueen; there’s a uniquely visceral energy to the city that runs throughout the house’s history and continues to inspire everything we do today.”

Newly appointed CEO Gianfranco D’Attis added: “London is where our story began and remains central to our identity. We are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the British Fashion Council and to the city’s extraordinary creative ecosystem.”

McQueen’s return comes as the British Fashion Council continues efforts to strengthen London Fashion Week’s position within the global fashion calendar.

Since becoming CEO in 2025, Weir has introduced measures aimed at broadening participation and increasing the event’s reach, including changes to entry requirements and fee structures.
